On a recent trip to Kanab we found ourselves in need of a break from a busy trip to Zion. We got lucky and found a beautiful local park called Jacob Hamblin Park, which was just right for a picnic.
The Park is very large and had a lot of green space. There is some shade next to the large trees, and a sizable pavilion that would accommodate a lot of people (probably at least 50). Additionally, there were restrooms, tennis courts, and a nice play area.
While Mom made lunch, Dad chased the kids around the play area, which featured slides, swings, climbing walls, bridges, and all the usual park stuff. This was a great stop, and one of the unexpected gems of our trip.
In the middle of the park there was also a tall working wind vane. We watched as it swung around each time the wind shifted, with its many blades whirring.
If you’re in the area of Kanab, and you need a place to stop and let the kids run around, Jacob Hamblin Park is as nice as any park you’ll ever see. If you are looking for other things to do in the area, check out our list of Things to do Near Zion National Park.
Jacob Hamblin Park is located at 450 N 100E in Kanab, UT. If you come to Kanab from Zion, as you come into town you will go around a huge curve to the left and pass the white horse for the Little Hollywood Movie Museum. Keep following this road (Center St) through town and just before it takes a huge curve to the right, turn left onto 100 E. The park is 5 blocks up on this road.
